作为一个以摄影及录像为媒介的当代艺术家,董文胜的创作向来在两者之间自如穿梭,作品既具有基于中国传统文化元素的个人美学特征,同时又弥漫着诗意而隐喻 的影像语言。他的“后花园”、“静室”、“石头”、“刺青”、“骷髅”等系列作品广为人知,东方式的神秘感孤独感甚至荒诞感始终缭绕其中,从而引领观众进 入传统与现实交集,存在与虚无并置的影像空间,浸淫在艺术家营造的独特的美学氛围之中。

董文胜为他的的图像世界建立了属于私密的、迷乱而缱绻晦涩的诗句,以那些现实中的虚实影像反映出来。你无法估摸他的厌恶和喜好,经常的,那些纯粹唯美的诗句伴随着粗粝的、令人不堪的诗句一同喷薄而出。董文胜将他熟谙的中国传统文人的病态或消极的那部分理想带入他的摄影巫术中,于是,它们便成了他的作品的精神核心,在他的照片中,这些元素被不断重复使用:生长中的青苔,石头,河流,肉体,刺青,头盖骨,古墓中的陪葬容器,假松柏。。。。。。他像一个舞台美术师,任由这些道具乾坤转世。(韩磊)

 

董文胜是一个以摄影及录像为创作媒介的当代艺术家,作品具有成熟的基于中国传统美学的个人美学特征,同时具有充满隐喻的影像语言。他最早的“后花园”系列,展示在幽静的园林中,在朦胧夜色的笼罩下,赤身裸体抱成一团的打斗人影。这些影像不仅制造出一种悬念与紧张,也同时营造出一种奇特的文化意象,颠覆、推翻了人们对于中国传统文化与历史的浪漫、优雅的想象,以纠缠的暴力意象给出了有关缠绵阴柔的江南文化的新的想象内容与空间。可以这么说,董文胜的摄影接续了中国古典文学中的志怪传统。不过他的影像并不只是沉浸于一种怪异形象的发明,也不是尽情渲染某种阴暗的虚构,而是直指人的精神内面与生存状态。挥之不去的生命危机感,始终是他的影像中不曾回避且具决定性的要素。(顾铮)
